My First Blog

I am very new to expressing my thoughts and experiences down on paper (electronically). Yet in my real life I have no problem expressing a thought or comment to those I am with. I also give regular talks in front of crowds, teaching and encouraging people about worthwhile topics.

Here though I start with a blank canvas and will build on it to help you to see that anyone, even people like us can start and run a successful blog. And the topics I will present over the next few months will vary slightly as I hone in on my chosen niche. My goal is to get a feel for what you, the reader specifically want from me.

I plan to bring a variety of related topics (broad as they are) together under the one banner. The banner of Creating Sum Fun while teaching a valuable lesson.

My name is James FG and I started using computers back in the time of Text Only Green Screen. No hard drives and no available software during the 1980s.

During the 1990’s I started learning about Microsoft DOS and programming and so began the Internet (for me at least). Then I did some courses and became a Microsoft Certified System Engineer. This basically meant I could build computer components. Also, program in several computer languages, install network systems and provide computer security and maintenance.

I spent much of my time teaching others how to use Computers at a University. It was around this time that I began using my talents to explore the new world of online marketing and creating web pages.

I created my on website on the SiteGround servers (Brand New back then) and began writing. We call it blogging now, but in 2004 it was just website articles linked to other articles. Along with advertisements, eBooks and affiliate marketing. Sound familiar. There was no social networking, email was very basic and video was created and exported to a DVD for posting to a client.

Like many people who spent a lot of their early years hiding behind a computer screen, we are by nature very shy people and don’t like to put ourselves out there for others to critique. Yet here I am – how?

I studied the Bible and learnt from a bible teacher that being shy is natural. It is also easy to overcome if you love the topic your going to discuss and understand that topic very well.

I came to realise that there was nothing to fear about speaking out and that there are a few things that I personally am very passionate about. I was also taught that humour is the key to success in that if we can learn to lighten up, take time out to relax and enjoy the best parts of our life. Then the fear of failure or embarrassment also fades away.

We can become more confident and therefore willing to speak out to friends and strangers about the things that we love.

On that note:

A man and his wife arrived at an automobile dealership to pick up their car, but were told that the keys had been accidentally locked in it. They went to the service department and found a mechanic working feverishly to unlock the driver’s side door. As they watched from the passenger’s side, the guy instinctively tried the door handle and discovered it was open.

“Hey,” the man announced to the technician, “It’s open!”

“I know,” answered the young man. “I already got that side.”

So, what do I love? There are many things high on that list, the top of course is my wife and children and my personal relationship with God. It may differ for you and that is fine. Listed below are my main passions.

For me I have always had a passion for Art – drawing, painting, sketching and photography. I studied Art in high school and tried to continue it through various mediums as I started my computer career.

Computers would have to be a close second and although I let my studies in computing slip in the last few years, the experience and knowledge is still very high. Which leads me to my passion for teaching in Microsoft Office products, Windows shortcuts and online activities like teaching others how to start their own blog.

Next is my passion for seeing the lighter side of ourselves. Political correctness has changed the way the world views themselves (for the worse) and I like to “tactfully” show people though my blogs that it is ok to laugh at yourself or others in some light hearted circumstances.

Who is not amused when a person walks into a glass door? Especially if it obvious that they are not hurt. Over the decades of working with computers I have come across thousands of jokes and amusing drawings. Many I deleted for being unsuitable in todays environment, but there are still hundreds that I will share with you in the form of lists or one liners over the next few months.

Who will read these blogs, hopefully everyone at some point. My goal is to reach out to all people with a message of joy. Those who are frustrated with the daily grind of life and those looking for a little comic relief. Others may just want to improve their creative flair though drawing or photography.

My goals are to show you ways to improve the way you do things and improve just a small part of your life. This will hopefully inspire you to realize that for everyone life is pretty good, you just have to know where to look and maybe how to change your viewpoint a little. And read a joke too.

Well I hope I have inspired you to look up some of my other blogs. From this point on all the Blogs will have a specific category. With a little bit of humour added in for fun. If you cannot wait and want to look ahead right now the you can follow one of the links below for more information.
