This package includes information on identifying your Blog Styling Brand and Niche – Your Style. How you are perceived by others who read your blogs. What makes you unique or stand out above the pack.
Branding
What is your Brand – What it is Not!
Your Brand is NOT the Logo or images you chose for your blog, nor is it the colours you use to identify you. These things are necessary, but they do not define you.
Jeff Bezos at Amazon said: “Your Brand is what people say about you when you are not in the room.”
So, a Brand could be likened to a feeling. How do people – your customers – feel when they visit your site? Do they want to leave quickly because they feel nothing, or do they become empowered and motivated to go the next level with you? Which would you prefer?
Create a brand that makes people want to stay on your site and come back again.
Follow these simple steps by answering each of the 5 questions, and you will end up with a unique and memorable brand to draw your customers back again and again.
Question 1
First, choose five adjectives that describe your Blog Styling Brand and Niche, that is, who are you and what do you want from your website:
__________ _________ _________ _________ _________
For example, I aim for being friendly, happy, informative, exciting and impressive. I named my website Create Sum Fun – meaning my goals are to Create new work and inspirational imagery, Sum as in math, showing ways to generate an income and Fun by keeping everything light hearted so you can remember to live your life too.
Question 2
Why do you want a Brand, what is your purpose?
Identify why you want a new look; what feelings are you striving for your customers to experience. How do the Words above fit in to your blog. Create a Goal (or goals) based on those 5 words that reflect the direction of your blog.
Use the S.M.A.R.T. Goal chart to help you stay on track.
Question 3
What do you want to achieve from your blog, what is its purpose?
Is it the love of the topic you have chosen and the knowledge you just want to share with the world? Or is it to quit your day job and become rich?
Maybe a little of both? Be specific and write down what you really want.
Question 4
What makes your blog unique when compared to other similar blogs out there on the internet?
You may think nothing, but that is never true. There is always something a little different about every blog online.
Once you identify your uniqueness, then write down ways to exploit that quality. Generally, it is you! Identify what you really excel at, something that you can do better than anyone else.
Make sure you write down ways you can enhance this quality in all your blogs. Ask yourself, are you writing about things that inspire you?
If you are struggling to come up with something. Research which of your blogs are doing the best and find out the thing they have in common compared to the others. Also ask your followers what they think and what they would like to see more of.
Question 5
List three other Brands that you love and explain why.
Choose 3 blogs that you like to follow and decide what their brands are and why this appeals to you. Then decide if there is a brand that appeals to you and is similar to your goals, take inspiration from it to create your own brand.
Don’t copy it. Just use some (or a few) of the ideas that make it great for you and then mix those ideas with your own goals, adjectives from above and your purpose for starting a blog.
NOTE: There are websites out there like Copyscape that can analyse 2 websites to see if any part of it has been copied. It is NOT worth the risk and the fines to plagiarise someone else’s work.

Now that you have answered those question, write down what your brand is. This will be a combination of the Goals and purpose of your blog. Thus causing your target audience to feel the emotions listed by your descriptions.
NICHE
Having a Niche, helps you to stay focused on your blog and decide on the main goals you are trying to achieve. Whether that is to make a living or get a message out.
You can use my Blog Planning Worksheet to help you decide on the best Niche suitable for you. As discussed previously:
- Identify your main topic to blog about
- Work out the categories and sub-categories related to that topic
- Identify your target audience
- Combine the above to create your Niche.
STYLING
Here is where you choose the colour and look of your blog that aids in helping your target audience to understand your clear brand and purpose.
Once visitors can see the real you through your blogs, they will feel comfortable with you and desire to take your blogs more seriously. Then they will then signup for your courses and subscriptions.
Pick a few colours that match the mood you are trying to achieve. Then use these colours to create your New Logo and also some of the branding images that are scattered throughout your website. Along with an easy to read font and size.
Always include your website address or a contact form on every page you create and that it also fits in with your brand.
Write everything you have come up with on the template below to help you remember what is your Brand, your Niche and your Style.
Kind Regards
